The minimum bullfighter jersey bid is $2,500 and bids must be submitted in increments of $100. Complete auction rules and regulations are posted online at www.pbrnow.com.
The WBC event will air on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) on Tuesday, October 26th beginning at 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 27th also at 8:00 p.m. (all times eastern).
The WBC represents the ultimate in American freestyle bullfighting action. The competition format features athletes engaging in a 70-second freestyle bullfighting display. Bullfighters are evaluated based upon the aptitude they display in controlling and maneuvering a 2,000 pound opponent. Precision in jumping the bull, contact with the bull, and handling of the barrel are additional criteria used in evaluating each contestant's performance. The world's top bull fighters who are qualified to compete in the World Bullfighting Championships will be gunning for a piece of the $53,500 in added prize money.
During the preliminary performance of the WBC, 16 bullfighters will compete in a 'heads up' competition, which means that the bullfighters will be paired with one another. The highest scoring individual from the initial match-up will advance to the second day of competition. On day two, the eight qualifying bullfighters will compete in a second 'heads up' competition. Once again bullfighters will be paired in a dramatic face-off. The high score resulting from each of the four match-ups will advance to the final round. During the exciting final round of action, the top four bullfighters will compete individually rather than being paired. At that point, the top scoring contestant of the four will claim the coveted event title.
