The Professional Bull Riders' (PBR) U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Challenger Tour (USSTC) and American Bucking Bull, Inc. (ABBI) joined forces to showcase the best three and four-year-old bulls challenged by the brightest bull riding stars in the PBR this past weekend. Two exciting nights of action rocked Prescott, Arizona's Frontier Days Arena on July 23rd and 24th as the Cody Custer Classic Challenger Tour and ABBI Classic Series hit town. Allan Moraes, one member of the Brazilian triple threat led by older brother and two-time PBR World Champion Adriano Moraes, took top honors of the Cody Custer Classic USSTC Challenger Tour and walked away $8,400 richer.
Also among the top four finishers was Chris Shivers (Jonesville, La.) whose solid performance upon his long-awaited return to PBR competition boosted his season earnings by $2,800. Shivers, who has surpassed virtually every major milestone in PBR competition, is well on his way to making up ground after missing 15 of the 28 Built Ford Tough Series events this season. Prescott marked Shivers' first competitive appearance since February 6th.
The USSTC Challenger Tour travels to various cities from coast to coast across the United States and gives the rising stars of the PBR a chance to compete alongside the seasoned veterans of bull riding. The Challenger Tour will pay out an estimated $385,375 during the month of July. As one leg of the Classic Series qualification program, the Cody Custer Classic ABBI Classic Series event provided PBR stock contractors with the opportunity to get their top performers eligible for the $100,000 added ABBI Bucking Bull Classic to be held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, October 23rd and Sunday, October 24th. The Las Vegas event entry fees will combine with the substantial added money contributed by the PBR to create the richest event held exclusively for stock contractors and breeders in bucking bull history. This electrifying weekend at Orleans Arena also includes the highly anticipated World Bullfighting Championships. Diamond S Bucking Bulls' Bonanza stole the show in Prescott with an outstanding 93 point first round performance and an equally impressive 93.5 point score during second round action. Diamond S Bucking Bulls received $4,511 in ABBI dollars for the bull's efforts.
