The Professional Bull Riders rock into action for the Cabela's Classic at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Mo. The two-day event gets underway on Saturday, June 12th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 13th at 2 p.m. This is the 21st stop on the PBR's marquee 29-city tour, the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) presented by Wrangler. The Cabela's Classic will air LIVE on Saturday, June 12th at 8:00 p.m. (EST) and tape-delayed on Sunday, June 13th at 8:00 p.m. (EST) on OLN.
The bull riding action will be capped each day by the Cabela's Classic World Bullfighting Championships Qualifier-a thrilling American freestyle bullfighting competition. The competition format features five athletes engaging in a 70-second freestyle display which allows bullfighters to showcase their skills as they face fierce Mexican fighting bulls. This is the fourth and final chance for the world's top bullfighters to qualify for the 2004 World Bullfighting Championships, which will be held in Las Vegas, Nev. in October.
PBR's coveted million-dollar world championship is on the line, and each bull rider puts his skills and stamina to the test eight seconds at a time in a season-long quest for the ultimate crown in professional bull riding. 1994 and 2001 PBR World Champion Adriano Moraes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has dominated the entire 2004 season. Moraes pulled away from his closest competitor, Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.) by 1,495 after capturing the event title at last BFTS event, the Pennzoil Invitational, in Springdale, Ark. on May 16th.
