Biography

Cooper “Captain America” Davis — also known around the locker room as “Coop” “Chicken Coop” or “Coop Dog” — is a true veteran of the sport and one of the most respected riders in the PBR. The Jasper, Texas, native committed to a holistic fitness plan in 2015 and quickly ascended to Western sports stardom, winning the 2015 PBR World Finals before being crowned the 2016 PBR World Champion. Since then, he’s been a perennial contender, competing in some of the most intense title races in PBR history and earning eight World Finals appearances and a career-best 94 points on Chiseled in Kansas City in 2021.

After briefly stepping into the PBR broadcast booth in 2023, Davis returned to competition revitalized and laser-focused on team glory. A cornerstone of the Carolina Cowboys, he’s the team’s veteran leader and leadoff man, known for his calm composure and championship mindset. In 2025, he helped guide Carolina to its first PBR Teams Championship inside T-Mobile Arena, cementing his legacy as both a world champion and a team champion.

Away from the dirt, Davis calls Dallas, Texas, home with his wife Kaitlyn and son Mack. A devoted family man, he keeps life simple — long drives, good coffee, and the people who matter most. On the road, he always grabs pistachios for a snack and keeps YETI straps tucked in his gear bag, though even he’ll admit he’s not sure why. After a long night of rides, it’s usually steak and potatoes on his plate — Texas Roadhouse with teammate Derek Kolbaba if it’s the boys, or Al Biernat’s if it’s date night. The toughest bull he’s ever topped was Rockefeller, the kind that’ll make a man earn his eight. His first concert was George Strait at the Houston Rodeo, and if you ask him to pick just one George Strait the great song, it’d be Amarillo by Morning.
