Biography

Clay Guiton grew up with bull riding in his blood. The Cherryville, North Carolina, native is the son of Josh Guiton, a former bull rider who launched Chicken Hill Bucking Bulls with Clay’s help when he was still a kid. Surrounded by the Western lifestyle from day one, Guiton climbed on his first sheep at age four and never looked back.

Riding alongside close friends John Crimber and Kaiden Loud on the national youth circuit, Guiton developed a reputation for his focus and natural feel for bulls. After graduating early from Burns High School in December 2023, he made his PBR debut at just 18 years old, earning his first career 90-point ride on Bandito Bug in Tulsa the following January.

Though his rookie season was cut short by injury, fellow North Carolinian and Oklahoma Wildcatters Head Coach J.B. Mauney believed in the young gun’s potential, selecting him in the first round of the 2024 PBR Teams New Rider Draft. After spending his first season with Oklahoma, Guiton was traded in the offseason to the Carolina Cowboys, returning home to North Carolina to ride for his home-state team.

The trade proved fateful. In 2025, Guiton delivered one of the most impressive postseason performances in PBR Teams history. Early in the season, he tied Daniel Keeping’s all-time record of 10 consecutive rides, showcasing rare consistency and composure under pressure. At the 2025 PBR Teams Championship inside T-Mobile Arena, the 19-year-old went a perfect 5-for-5, riding every bull he faced — including the deciding overtime ride in the first-ever extra outs game in Teams Championship history. His efforts helped lead the Carolina Cowboys to their first-ever Teams Championship, and when the dust settled, Guiton was crowned the 2025 PBR Teams Championship MVP.

True to his roots, Guiton is a cowboy of habit — superstitious to the core. He never puts his hat on the bed, places his bull rope in the same spot every time on the bull’s back, and wouldn’t even cut his hair until after the Teams Championship. Off the dirt, he’s most at home on his family ranch, managing roughly 40 head of bucking bulls — his prized possessions and his “other job.” His go-to pre-ride meal is whatever isn’t chicken (a superstition he’s half-retired after winning with Crimber over chicken sandwiches), and his favorite gas-station snack is Reese’s Cups.
