Nashville Stampede
Cody Jesus — often called “The Pride of the Navajo Nation” — has built a reputation as one of professional bull riding’s most talented and determined athletes. The soft-spoken standout from Window Rock, Arizona, rose from humble beginnings, recycling bottles and cans and picking piñon nuts to pay his way into early competitions. Self-taught, he practiced on a homemade barrel tied between two trees before climbing on his first bull at 14, inspired by the movie “8 Seconds” and the story of Lane Frost.
Jesus made his PBR debut in 2016 and his Unleash The Beast debut in 2017, quickly proving he belonged among the world’s best. By 2019, he captured his first 15/15 Bucking Battle with a 91.5-point ride on Cochise and earned his second PBR World Finals qualification, finishing No. 20 in the world. In 2021, he delivered his career-high ride of 92.5 points on Bentley in Las Vegas, solidifying his standing as one of the tour’s top competitors.
A three-time PBR Global Cup Team USA Wolves qualifier, Jesus was drafted in the first round of the inaugural 2022 PBR Teams Draft, then traded to the Texas Rattlers, where he became an impact rider. He helped the Rattlers to a third-place finish that year and played a key role in the team’s 2023 PBR Teams Championship, riding Tijuana Two-Step for 88.75 points to help secure the title.
In 2024, Jesus continued his momentum, qualifying for his fifth PBR World Finals and later being traded to the Nashville Stampede. There, he contributed crucial rides and helped the team into the postseason. In 2025, Jesus finished 15th in the PBR Teams regular-season MVP race, underscoring his consistency and value in the team series.
Off the dirt, Jesus is as grounded as he is fearless. Married to Faith Jesus, he enjoys Chick-fil-A and unwinding with Call of Duty. A George Strait fan who likes the TV show “Ridiculousness” and the movie “Talladega Nights,” he looks up to Head Coach Justin McBride and takes pride in representing his Navajo heritage. Humble, hardworking, and quietly confident, he’s the kind of cowboy whose presence speaks louder than words.
