Biography

Nick Tetz grew up like many Canadian kids — playing hockey. A standout in the Calgary youth leagues, Tetz spent 15 years chasing pucks before trading the ice for the arena, drawn to bull riding after spending summers at the Ashbachers’ ranch in Wildwood, Alberta. At 12, he climbed on his first steer, and from there, the path was set.

After turning professional in 2018, Tetz made an immediate impact, earning PBR Canada Rookie of the Year honors and, just four years later, becoming the 2022 PBR Canada Champion. He repeated the feat in 2024, joining an elite class of multi-time Canadian Champions after a record-breaking year that included 12 event wins and more than CAD $249,000 in earnings.

Tetz’s success north of the border carried stateside. In 2023, he made his PBR World Finals debut and notched a career-high 91.5-point ride on Sonny B in Kansas City. That same year, he joined the Arizona Ridge Riders, quickly becoming one of the team’s top performers and helping them to a third-place finish in the 2023 PBR Teams Championship. After starting the 2025 individual season strong, Tetz was sidelined by injury for the entire 2025 Teams season, remaining a steady locker-room presence as he cheered the Ridge Riders to a fourth-place finish at the Teams Championship before storming back into PBR Canada competition to close out the year.

Off the dirt, the Calgary native is as grounded as he is competitive. A first-generation bull rider, Tetz keeps a keychain from teammate Keyshawn Whitehorse in his gear bag wherever he rides and says his biggest accomplishment outside the arena is marrying his wife, Mady. He’s a lifelong Calgary Flames fan, loves Tim Hortons coffee, and never leaves a gas station without a pack of teriyaki beef jerky. His favorite band is Nickelback, his favorite movie is Austin Powers, and he’s got a soft spot for comedy and classic rock.

Proudly Canadian, Nick Tetz continues to raise the bar for bull riders north and south of the border.
