Man Hater burst from the chute with a presence that made the ground feel like it shook beneath him. The two-time YETI PBR World Champion Bull was one of the most dominant and respected bovine athletes in the sport’s history, a force so fierce he was ridden just nine times in 66 recorded outs. And when it happened, it often became history.
Owned by Jane Clark and the late Gene Owen, Man Hater’s explosive power, violent front-end drop and unmatched vertical kick set the standard every bull in the sport was measured against. His 2025 campaign cemented that legacy as he claimed his second consecutive world title, recorded the highest bull score in PBR history — a near-perfect 49.5 points, marked during a trip that ended in a buckoff of seven-time PRCA World Champion Sage Steele Kimzey — and earned top marks in 13 events.
Owen, who passed away in 2025, often said his prized bull was “the total package.” Man Hater’s name ultimately came to represent not only dominance inside the arena but also the legacy of the man who helped shape him into one of the greatest bucking bulls in PBR history.
Now remembered as one of the sport’s true legends, Man Hater’s story is forever tied to the cowboy who believed in him first. Many who loved the great bull like to think that somewhere beyond the arena lights, Gene Owen and his old friend are reunited in wide green pastures, with bigger dirt mounds to climb and the king of the hill finally back with his best buddy.
