Teenage phenom John Crimber wins Challenger Series’ Tri-Cities Classic in Kennewick, Washington
Win marks 18-year-old sensation’s fourth victory within PBR during his career of less than a month.
KENNEWICK, Wash. – After the dust settled at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Washington, for PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Challenger Series’ Tri-Cities Classic, 18-year-old sensation John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) emerged victorious, earning his fourth career victory in less than a month competing with the organization.
As competition got underway in Round 1, The bull riding phenom and son of PBR legend Paulo Crimber stumbled, bucked off by Wildcat (Big Bend/Flying Five) in 3.92 seconds. Crimber, however, was quick to rebound, delivering what proved to be the high-marked ride of the event in Round 2, covering Get At Me (Diamond C Cattle Co) for 87.5 points to surge to second on the event leaderboard.
Crimber’s momentum continued to roll as Championship Saturday got underway. In Round 3, the Texas resident made a statement, overtaking the event lead when he posted the top score, marked 84.5 points atop Whirly Bird (Big Bend/Flying Five).
In the final round of the evening, Crimber looked to continue his dominant form as he climbed aboard Mr. Winston (Dakota Rodeo/Mark Baker/Clay Struve/Chad Berger). Completing his sweep of the final night of action, Crimber logged his third-straight round-winning ride, marked 87 points to also clinch the event win.
Crimber’s victory earned him a critical 164 Challenger Series points, propelling him to No. 4 in the tour’s global standings. He is now within 504.5 points of No. 1 Alan de Souza (Taubate, Brazil).
Conner Halverson (Gordon, Nebraska) parlayed a 2-for-4 effort into a second-place finish.
The Nebraskan got off to a strong start, riding Wicked Ways (Braseth Bucking Bulls) for 81 points in Round 1 and Skeeter Peter (Dakota Rodeo/Mark Baker/Clay Struve/Chad Berger) for 83.5 points in Round 2 to conclude the opening night of the PBR Tri-Cities Classic atop the standings.
Halverson, however, was unable to continue that momentum in both Round 3 and Round 4, unseated by Get At Me in 4.25 seconds and Wreck (Clay Stuve/Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger) in 2.75 seconds, respectively.
Halverson’s silver showing garnered 82 Challenger Series points, allowing him to rise to No. 10 in the Challenger Series Global standings.
Courtesy of an 86.5-point ride atop Mr. Winston in Round 2, 2002 PBR World Champion Ednei Caminhas (Indaiatuba, Brazil) was third.
The Brazilian garnered 54 Challenger Series points to maintain his No. 3 spot in the standings. He now trails No.1 Souza by 450.5 points.
Fourth place was Dawson Branton (Jefferson, Oregon).
Branton, a Reserve Rider for the Carolina Cowboys in the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, went 1-for-3, winning Round 1 with an 86-point effort atop Whatever (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Ken Barnhart).
For his efforts, the Oregon native returned home with 49 Challenger Series points.
