The World Finals on the horizon is as good a reason as any to win your first event, and Jesse Petri cashed in. Plus, Kaique Pacheco has a big weekend to add some drama to the world title race, several riders on the bubble make moves to qualify for the World Finals and more. Miss a moment of the action this weekend? Here’s what happened around the PBR.
On the Unleash The Beast…
Jesse Petri is trying to both qualify for his first World Finals and win the Rookie of the Year title, and he took a step towards both this weekend. Petri went 2-for-3 to win the first premier series event of his career, improving to No. 13 in the world standings and No. 3 in the rookie race.
Of the world title contenders, world No. 2 Kaique Pacheco had the best showing, first winning Round 1…
…and then finishing second overall to cut world No. 1 Jose Vitor Leme’s lead in the world standings to 635 points with one regular-season event remaining before the World Finals.
Conner Halverson, however, made the greatest strides towards Las Vegas with a career-best fifth-place finish to improve to No. 33 in the world standings.
Meanwhile, on the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour…
Up north in PBR Canada…
Zane Lambert won the PBR Canada Cup Series event in Medicine Hat, Alberta, to improve to No. 2 in the national standings as he attempts to win a third PBR Canada title.
