PUEBLO, Colo. – In continuing with the on-going tradition of WC Challenger Charities, the Rider Relief Fund is the latest of a group of charities set to benefit largely from this weekend’s Built Ford Tough Ring of Honor: Unfinished Business, presented by BlueDEF, pay-per-view event.

All eight PBR legends – J.W. Hart, Justin McBride, Chris Shivers, Ross Coleman, Tater Porter, Mike White, Michael Gaffney and Cody Custer – have agreed to donate their respective riding vests, which were provided courtesy of Ride Right, to an online auction benefitting the Rider Relief Fund.

All proceeds will go directly to the Rider Relief Fund.

The PBR will be donating a portion of its pay-per-view proceeds to WC Challenger Charities.

The mission of the Rider Relief Fund, a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) registered in Colorado, is to provide financial assistance to athletes, bull riders and bullfighters injured in the competitive sport of bull riding.

Rex Thain of Ride Right approached the Rider Relief Fund with the idea, and the Rider Relief Fund expects the auction to potentially be its largest fundraiser so far this year.

“We realize that there are limits to the protection we can provide the riders, and as the saying goes, ‘It is not if you will get hurt riding bulls, it is when,’†Thain said.  “That is where Rider Relief Fund comes in and we feel they are a natural extension of our purpose – protecting riders.  Rider Relief Fund can protect the riders financially when they have been hurt, which helps protect their families and homes.

“This sport needs Rider Relief Fund and that is why we are proud to support them.â€

Each vest features the Unfinished Business, PBR and Rider Relief Fund logos, as well as each rider’s respective sponsors and name on the back – only adding to their collectability. All eight are estimated to be worth a combined $10,500.

The Rider Relief Fund is just one of a series of charities that will benefit from this weekend’s Unfinished Business pay-per-view event.

In the past 12 years, over 40 charities have benefitted from the annual PBR event in Decatur, Texas, put on by WC Challenger Charities, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that was founded in 2004 in order to promote the inaugural JW Hart PBR Challenge.  

By the end of this year’s event, the total amount of money raised for charity will likely exceed $700,000, which is not including the 13 homes given to local military veterans, including one this year, that WC Challenger Charities have helped raise funds for. The homes are estimated to be valued at a combined $3.25 million.
