SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Reigning PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Champion J.B. Mauney won his third consecutive 15/15 Bucking Battle after turning in the highest score of the night, and the season, with a monstrous 94.25-point ride on Pearl Harbor (Bar D Cattle Co./Boyd-Floyd) closing out Saturday night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in front of a sell-out crowd of 9,434 during Round 2 of the First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard Invitational.

Mauney was riding with a sprained left elbow he suffered in the bucking chute Friday night during Round 1 of the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) event. He had ridden Unwound (Triplett Bucking Bulls) for 70.75 points earlier in the night during Round 2 and was more than ready to face Pearl Harbor.

“I knew I had a good chance of getting a 90-point score on that bull if I did my part, and I guess I did my part,” Mauney said. “That’s what it’s all about, when they start playing “Bad to the Bone”, that’s when you have to get up.”

Mauney earned 150 points toward the PBR world standings and now leads No. 2 Paulo Lima by 265 points. Lima did not compete in the 15/15 Bucking Battle after he aggravated a knee injury he sustained in Albuquerque.

Mason Lowe finished second after he covered Little Red Jacket (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen) for 89.25 points, earning 90 points towards the world standings.

Robson Palermo placed third with 75 world points off an 85.5-point ride on Big Tex Walk Off (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls).

Gage Gay and Valdiron de Oliveira also walked away winners Saturday night after tying for first place in the round. The riders earned 80 points in the world standings for the Round 2 victory.

Gay kicked off the night with a harrowing 87.25-point ride on Chantilly Lace (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) to set the pace for the other riders in the round. It was the second ride of the weekend for Gay after he finished second in Round 1 on Friday night.

Oliveira joined Gay atop of the leaderboard when he turned in his own 87.25-point ride on Cracker Jack (Rocking I Rodeo/Carpenter).

Rookie sensation Derek Kolbaba placed third when he answered the leaders with his 86.75-point ride on Grandpa Joe (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Lacey Scott) to take 50 points in the world standings. Kolbaba, who currently sits at 11th in the world standings, trails Wallace de Oliveira by 500 points in the PBR Rookie of the Year race.

Brazilian Rubens Barbosa tallied an 86.5-point ride aboard Come On Baby (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen). The effort secured fourth place and 40 points in the world standings.

2004 World Champion Mike Lee did it again Saturday night when he produced a masterful 85.5-point ride on Vegas Outlaw (Jared Allen’s Pro Bull Team). It was Lee’s second ride of the weekend and placed him fifth in Round 2 with 30 world points. The effort also moved him to 496 career rides, four away from being only the second rider to reach 500 rides on the Built Ford Tough Series.

Joao Ricardo Vieira turned in a solid 84.5 effort on Bar Fly (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen) to secure sixth place and 15 points in the world standings.

Wallace de Oliveira rounded out the Top-7 with an 83.5-point ride on Louisville Slugger (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen), earning him five points in the world standings.
