Kingsolver, Marcilio and Powell qualify for Tacoma

PUEBLO, Colo. – Skeeter Kingsolver (McLouth, Kan.) led the Professional Bull Riders Touring Pro Division Saginaw Invitational from beginning to end in Michigan this past weekend and won the overall event with an 88.5-point effort to win the long round and 88 points to split first place in the short go. Kingsolver received $5,135.49 in winnings with a total of 176.5 points.

Jay Miller (Liberty, S.C.) landed both second and third place with 174.5 points and 171.5 points, for a $5,530.53 combined payout. Based on TPD rules, a bull rider may enter a TPD event as many times as they choose; some riders have been known to enter two, or even three times.

Alex Aparecido Marcilio (Macaubal, Brazil) earned 173 points, combining his long round score of 86 points with his 87-point performance during the short go at the West Plains, Mo., PBR TPD to walk away with $4,190.50 in earnings and first place.

Second place went to Jordan Hupp (Stephenville, Texas), who collected 172.5 points for $2,962.25, while Colt Galven (Knoxville, Tenn.) took third with 170.5 points and $1,734.00.

In Birmingham, Ala., Derek Powell (Kerrville, Texas) notched a $3,755.52 victory at the Chicken on a Chain PBR Classic, presented by Wrangler, with 170.5 points. Powell led after the long round with his 84-point ride and tied for second in the short go with 86.5 points.

Zac Harris (Zephyr, Texas) finished second in Alabama with 82.5 points in Round 1 and won the short go with 87.5 points. Third place went to Zane Cook (Fort Gibson, Okla.) after he picked up 158.5 points and was the only other rider besides Powell and Harris to cover both of his bulls. Harris took home $2,987.97, while Cook won $1,562.52.

All three TPD winners – Kingsolver, Marcilio and Powell – earned a bid to this weekend’s Built Ford Tough Series PBR Passport Invitational in Tacoma, Wash., March 15-16 at the Tacoma Dome. This will be Kingsolver’s first time back on tour since Last Cowboy Standing last May. Marcilio and Powell are about to have their first experience on the BFTS.

The TPD will stop in Missouri, Alabama and Virginia this weekend.

The Poplar Bluff PBR TPD will take place at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff, Mo., beginning at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday, March 14, and Saturday, March 15. The competition will feature Brant Atwood (Pampa, Texas), Hupp and Harris.

The National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds will welcome Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.), Jason Malone (San Antonio) and Miller to Alabama for the Blood Bought “Bullriding Bull” Jam 2014 in Dothan, Ala., on both Friday and Saturday as well, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Brenton Chaffin (Riner, Va.) and Josh Faircloth (Randleman, N.C.) are scheduled to ride Saturday at 7:30 p.m., as the PBR’s BlueDef Velocity Tour makes a stop in Hampton, Va., at the Hampton Coliseum.
